To make a bouquet of wild flowers, you have to go gather them- Some grow right next to the trail, but some you have to hike up the hill to pick. I’m no flower-arranger-person, but my grandmother taught me that bouquets should have different heights, odd numbers, and enough variety. Scripture study is the same way!
What we study during scripture study can come from many sources such as
- canonized scripture
- bible dictionary
- topical guide
- modern-day prophets
- classics in literature (the ‘best books’)
- family history journals/stories
- thesaurus, dictionaries
Even though we spend a majority of our scripture study time in the canonized scriptures, I have found some of God’s most powerful messages to me in works of literature. When we look for God’s word to us, we will find it in all good things!
But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.
What work of literature have you found God’s work in?
